Shopping for fragrances in San Marco at Francesco Molon – Luxury furniture.
The fragrances are not ordinary, nor is the store. It is called Arco del Paradiso and it is a concept store where everything is for sale, including the furniture. Rare, exclusive fragrances, like the little French bottles by Molinard from the turn of the century, the Lubin bottles or the bottles designed by Czech & Speake, which were Giovanni Agnelli’s favorites. Then there is Bond n°9, with the names of the streets of New York or, for the strong of heart, Blood Concept, four fragrances for the four blood types. Or the fragrances of Pierre Guillome, made using ultraviolet radiation.
Fragrance Museum at Rialto
On the “noble” (second) floor of Palazzo Mocenigo, which houses the Museum of Venetian Costume, is the only Italian museum of fragrance. The museum valorizes the historical bond between fragrance and Venice, which in ancient times brought the colors, flavors and fragrances of the Far East to Europe. It houses the precious manual of cosmetics entitled I Notandissimi Secreti de l’Arte Profumatoria (G. Rosetti, Venice 1555), the first recipe book of the western world, and many precious herbaria.

Cristalli Varisco
Plying the ancient trade of the master glassblowers, and probably of his most ancient ancestor, Varisco Varischi, Marco, was the first to experiment in the Thirties with a technique for engraving on glass, which he taught his son Italy, along with the respect and love for those mysteries of earth and fire that can transform matter into beautiful objects. A master glassblower himself, in the Forties he was awarded at the Experimental School of Murano Glass. He later moved from Murano inland to Treviso, among the “still waters” and uncertain brilliance of the surviving “façade frescoes”, where he began his extraordinary adventure in his workshop at Treviso, followed by his son March, who creates beautiful objects for the noble and royal families of the world.
